Consider the following true Story that happened to Jeff yesterday. Jeff works for our local council as a specialist subcontractor. I say specialist because Jeff owns and operates a "special" machine called an Aquatic Weed Harvester.
An Aquatic Weed Harvester is a floating machine that removings "organic vegetation" (or as you and I would call them water weeds) as well as, rubbish from Dams, Lakes, Ponds & Waterways.
The weed harvester has underwater cutting blades that cut the stems of underwater plants, then collect the weed cuttings and raise them on conveyor belts and store the piles of cut weeds on board.
The cutting blades, conveyors and propulsion system on Jeff's Weed Harvester are all hydraulically powered and yesterday more than 100 yards from the shore of a weed-choked lake Jeff's weed harvester blew a hydraulic propulsion hose leaving him stranded and far from shore. So what was Jeff going to do now?!!
Jeff is a "switched on operator" and he was prepared for just such an event.
